Winchester College Cricket academy players are now back in England having completed a successful four (4) days of warm weather pre-season cricket and fitness training between Monday 10th – Friday 14th April at Desert Springs Resort, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course with its very own dedicated Cricket Academy, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.
Winchester College Cricket Coaches, Paul Gover and James Burridge accompanied fourteen (14) players who completed bowling, batting and fielding practice as well as strength and conditioning training sessions, culminating in playing 4 games, as they stepped up their physical preparations for the 2017 season.
Winchester College Cricket Coach, Paul Gover commented:
“We have had a great trip and both the staff and the resort were fantastic.
The cricket facilities are excellent and the academy grounds staff were both extremely helpful and responsive, to the point of even switching the direction of the playing square.
We played 4 matches in 5 days coupled with extensive use of the practice nets!”
The training camp worked on a specific and carefully planned programme covering technical skills, strength and conditioning and both individual and group activity.
