Fourteen (14) members of the Netherlands National Women’s Cricket Team, accompanied by Head Coach Shane Deltz, Assistant Coach Tim de Leede and national Physio and Strength & Conditioning Coach George Dunlop, have completed a successful three (3) day pre-tournament training camp at Desert Springs Resort, with its very own ICC accredited Cricket Ground and Academy, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.
The purpose of the training camp was to allow the team to prepare for the upcoming European T20 World Cup Qualifiers, with the objective to achieve first place to entitle them to participate in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in 2022.
Shane Deitz, Netherlands National Women’s Team Head Coach remarked of Desert Springs Resort and the training camp;
“My first time to Desert Springs and I had heard so much about it and it didn’t disappoint. On arrival everything was perfect, and the groundsman was also willing and open to do everything for us to allow us a great prep for our World Cup qualifier. As anyone knows who has taken teams on tour, food is so important to keep the players happy and the food was absolutely brilliant. All in all, we had a great time in the sun and we couldn’t replicate those conditions in the Netherlands, so Desert Springs is perfect and I can recommend it to all.”
