Fourteen (14) members of the Netherlands National Women’s Cricket Team, accompanied by Head Coach Sean Trouw, assistant Tim de Leede and national physio and strength & conditioning coach George Dunlop, have completed a successful two (2) day pre-tournament training camp at Desert Springs Resort, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course with its very own dedicated Cricket Ground and Academy, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.
The purpose of the training camp was to allow the team to prepare for the upcoming ‘2019 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier Europe’. The event acts as a dual-qualifier, with opportunities to progress to both the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier and ICC Women’s CWC Qualifier.
The teams work at Desert Springs has already paid dividends, as their campaign got off to an exciting start with a narrow win for the Netherlands on the opening day of the qualifying matches yesterday against tournament favourites Scotland.
A specific and carefully planned programme of numerous training sessions each day covering technical skills, fielding drills, bowling and batting, strength and conditioning and both individual and group activity took place at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground.

The players and coaches were accommodated in some of the privately-owned Apartments at Desert Springs and the resort’s executive chef was on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in El Torrente restaurant.
