Keele University Women’s Cricket Club are now back in the UK having completed a six (6) day post-season tour, comprising sixteen (16) players at Desert Springs ICC accredited Cricket Ground between Thursday 16th – Tuesday 21st June.
As part of their tour, the team spent their time completing a specific and carefully planned programme of numerous training sessions covering technical skills, bowling and batting, strength and conditioning and both individual and group activity.
Grass net practice, soft and hard ball fixtures took place at the Desert Springs ICC accredited cricket ground.
Beth Hughes, Keele University Women’s Cricket Club Captain remarked;
“Desert Springs catered to everyone’s needs, the facilities were amazing and a credit to the ground staff”
This was supported by Vice-Captain Charlotte Rimmer who commented;
“The cricket facilities were amazing, and the staff were very friendly. A great cricket tour destination!
The players and coaches were accommodated in some of the privately-owned Apartments at Desert Springs and the resort’s executive chef catered for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the Crocodile Club Restaurant.
Laura Briony, Keele University Women’s Cricket Club player remarked;
“The food at the Crocodile Club was superb, as were the cocktails and sangria. All of the staff were always happy to help.”
During their stay the Keele University Cricketers were also given an introduction to golf at the Golf Academy at Desert Springs Resort.
