Irish Ladies Golf Union Set To Return For Winter Training Camp At Desert Springs Resort

In 2013 The Irish Ladies Golf Union (ILGU) made their inaugural visit to Desert Springs Resort to complete their Warm Weather Winter Training Camp in preparation for the following seasons tournaments.

Since that time, the ILGU have been both a regular and welcome visitor to Desert Springs Resort, and it is with pleasure that we announce their scheduled return in the New Year.

Between Tuesday 02nd – Saturday 06th January, seven (7) players representing the U18 and U21 International squads and three (3) officials, and between Tuesday 13th – Saturday 17th February, nine (9) players representing the U18 and U21 International squads and three (3) officials, will reside at the resort for a 4-day intensive training programme to develop their individual golfing skills in warm weather, while experiencing a golf course which offers a challenge to players at all levels.

The Irish Ladies Golf Union is the governing body for amateur women’s golf in Ireland. It was founded in 1893 and is recognised as the oldest Ladies Golf Union in the world. Golf is the highest participation female sport in Ireland, with almost 60,000 female golfers in the country aged from 8 to 88, playing on a regular basis.

During their time at the resort the players will utilise the excellent practice facilities at the Golf Academy and play the Championship Indiana course.

The players and officials will be accommodated in some of the privately-owned apartments and pueblo villas normally reserved for holidays and short breaks at Desert Springs and the resort’s executive chef will be on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the award-winning ‘El Torrente’ Restaurant.
