“Discerning , understated and superb”

Not much of a golfer but was recommended to try Desert Spring for a break with a few rounds of golf ,sun and swimming , chill out time and great grub….and some rather good Spanish plonk.

Five of us made the trip and not one of has left without raving about the place.

Golf testing and my balls are in the lake!

Food amazing and the wine wow.

Accommodation simply great and I wanted to nick the wonderful pillows .

The staff were kind and considerate and couldn't have done more for us.

In short Desert Springs is a great place for a short or long break /holiday.

“A very special place for a family reunion – Easter Holiday 2014”

Having last stayed at Desert Springs for the most beautiful blessing on our wedding by my Grandpa (ex-vicar) in 2007 (with every thought met and almost every special person we knew with us), I thought it would have been impossible to compete with the last experience; but I was wrong.
This time returning with our two small children it was different but we had a very precious time reuniting with family and also experienced the wonderful Desert Springs through their eyes.
Whilst we caught up with family and friends we were able to enjoy the unique views of the desert golf course (a paradise for golfers), switching off and catching up in the spacious and extravagant houses (which you can quite easily share between families to double or triple the fun), excellent food and service and of course a pampering from the beauty salon.
At the same time our 3 and 5 year olds were in heaven. Seeing their cousins is always special as we live abroad, but everything was fun from fish watching, laughing with staff and playing endlessly in the pool. It was so well organized and everything such good quality it was easy to relax.
At night 5 children huddled together to hear that nights children stories whilst men made BBQ's, or we had easter egg hunts in the very large garden (full of hiding places). Other nights we all ate out within Desert Springs and children were given drinks to toast together and were safe to explore.
It really is a place where there is something for people of all ages.
Very simply; upon arrival, the surroundings make you relax and then you enjoy being spoilt!

We returned to the Crocodile Club (which is place that stands alone for its clever design, food and beautiful pools) to show the children where we received our blessing and it was a lovely moment to share with them, but for them not least to find an exciting hidden play area just behind!

For us Desert Springs is a very special place, we would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of a wedding or simply just a spoiling in a very special unique place golfer, or not.

“Awesome break in the sun in the crazy desert surroundings!”

What a fantastic week.
A very relaxing break in the fantastic desert surroundings with the family.
After a solid breakfast in the club house with the tasty freshly squeezed desert springs orange juice it was difficult to leave the easy going pace around the pool with the kids!
The setting of the golf course is stunning and provides a completely different perspective to the wonderful atmosphere in the villa!

“Family Holiday in Desert Springs Paradise”

My family of various ages from me Granny down to the 5 young grandchildren, have just returned from the most amazing holiday in fabulous Desert Springs.
I arranged flights to arrive in Alicante as my daughter lives in Rome with her 2 children whereas my 3 sons live in England with their families.
Staff at Desert Springs very efficiently arranged for a private bus to transfer us back to our luxurious villas, complete with their own pools for an extremely comfortable holiday with activities to suit all ages.
Breakfast in the Clubhouse every morning with delicious selections, including freshly squeezed orange juice from their own trees, was a great start to the day.
We then could choose from Golfing, Tennis, Swimming, Cycling, Football Pitch, Children's play Area at the Crocodile Club, Massages and Treatments by Karen in the Day Spa or in our own villa, visits to local beautiful close sandy beaches, markets and many more activities.
The sun shone beautifully and so we were all able to enjoy the various activities, ending with a fabulous tasty dinner in The Clubhouse, Crocodile Club or Bar b q in our villa.
Staff were extremely efficient, pleasant and looked after us all, making our stay the best holiday ever.
I cannot praise enough and can honestly say this is a hidden delight which needs to be seen to be believed. Such a great place with continual sunshine, so close to home that it is easy to visit and already I am planning a return annual visit as it suited all our ages and requirements much more than I could have ever hoped for.

“Amazing!”

We have just returned from an amazing family holiday to Desert Springs.
Our party consisted of 8 adults and 5 children.
We stayed in two luxurious villas overlooking the golf course, one with it's own pool.
Our villa exceeded our expectations, it was modern, spacious and had all the facilities we could have wished for and was very clean and well maintained.
We found the restaurants to be very good value for money, the food was delicious and the staff were very attentive and friendly.
Our children were very happy to stay on resort, they loved playing in the pool and we visited the play area on a daily basis, but we did also hire a car and visited a nearby beach which was literally 5-10 minutes drive away.
The male members of our group took advantage of the championship golf course and enjoyed a daily round of golf, whilst the female members took full advantage of the beauty treatments available.
We absolutely loved the resort and would definitely recommend and hope to return in the near future.

Resort – staff were superb. Welcoming, friendly and had plenty of time to stop and chat. Very impressed!

The quality of food in the restaurant was superb. Fresh, well presented food.

Course – was in excellent order. Greens, tees and fairways were all exactly as I would expect.

The practice area was in beautiful condition.

Look forward to my next visit!

An elite group of 13 golfers aged between 15 – 20 years old, with handicaps ranging from scratch to 9, accompanied by their Coaches Mathias Ferry and Jonas Larvia, from UMEA Golf Club in Sweden are now back home having completed a successful 7 days of warm weather winter training between 16th – 23rd April at Desert Springs Resort, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía, south-east Spain.

Accommodation was provided for the players and coaches in the townhouses available for holidays and short breaks at Desert Springs. Meals were served in the resort’s award winning El Torrente Restaurant at the Club House.

Mathias Ferry, UMEA Head Coach commented:

"This was our first visit to Desert Springs and we were all very impressed.

We found the practice facilities very beneficial for our players to work on their chipping and putting, something that they found they needed to be adept at should they miss a green on the course on the wrong side!

The Indiana is a demanding course which will penalise you when you lose focus on pin placements.

It is a great course for strategic players, and for those that require it, the course provides a great education on how to improve your course management skills."

Alexander Bordeniau -8 Handicap, said of his experience at Desert Springs:

The Indiana course is an exotic golf course in a both a beautiful and natural environment that will provide each player with a sense of heaven!

The lovely staff made us feel like we were at home.

Lisa Keightley, (far left) MCC Team Manager, Jonathan Finch, Head Performance Coach (2nd Left) and Christian Vassallo, Strength and Conditioning Coach (far right), with MCC Women’s Young Cricketers players: Sophie Luff, Alex MacDonald, Hollie Armitage, Jessica Watson, Georgina Holmes, Georgina Hennssy, Stephanie Butler and Carla Rudd.

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Young Women’s Cricketers’ players are now back in England having completed a successful 5 days of warm weather fitness and cricket training between 8th – 12th April at Desert Springs Resort, Europe’s only international award-winning luxury family resort and championship desert golf course with its very own dedicated Cricket Academy, in the Almanzora region of Almeria, Andalucía in south-east Spain.

Lisa Keightley, MCC Women’s Young Cricketers Team Manager and her team of three staff accompanied eight players who completed bowling, batting and fielding practice as well as strength and conditioning training sessions as they stepped up their physical preparations for the upcoming 2014 season.

Lisa Keightley, MCC Team Manager said:

“We have experienced and benefitted from great hospitality, first class quality food and excellent cricket practice facilities here at Desert Springs Resort. The weather in the UK has not been conducive to allowing our players to work on fielding exercises and practice, and that is one area that we have been specifically able to concentrate on here in Spain. We certainly believe that we shall reap the benefits of all that hard work in the coming weeks in our matches to be played! In my opinion the Desert Springs Cricket Academy has the potential to become an extremely sought after world class location for elite cricket training camps.”

‘Close Fielding Practice Session’ at the Desert Springs Cricket Academy

The famous MCC Young Cricketers programme demonstrates the Club's determination to foster new talent and maintain its reputation as the world's most active cricket-playing club.

After benefiting from expert coaching, intensive playing programmes and world-class facilities, many MCC Young Cricketers – both men and women – proceed to enjoy successful careers in county or international cricket.

Notable 'graduates' of the MCC Young Cricketers programme include England's Sir Ian Botham, who notably is a property owner and frequent visitor at Desert Springs Resort, Phil Tufnell, and Australia's Mark Waugh. One in three MCC Young Cricketers go on to sign professional terms with a first-class county.

MCC player, 18 year-old Jessica Watson remarked of the Cricket Academy:

“Desert Springs Resort is excellent for a pre-season training camp. The food and attention to detail from the resort staff was excellent, and the Gym had everything we needed for concentrating on our strength and conditioning programme; the wickets played very well and most importantly the additional training facilities at the academy gave us a chance to undertake extensive training sessions on fielding work ahead of the season.”

The training camp worked on a specific and carefully planned programme covering technical      skills, strength and conditioning, fielding skills and both individual and group activity.

MCC player, 18 year-old Stephanie Butler remarked of her experience:

Desert Springs provided a great opportunity for our squad to work on specific areas of our game that we could not do back in the UK. We have certainly been put through our paces during this training camp and we are all looking forward to returning soon!”

Our resort accommodation based on 4 sharing two bedroom / two bathroom apartments was by far much better than staying in a conventional hotel with just a bedroom and shower! When not training, the apartments provided us with a haven to return to giving us girls the opportunity to spend some time relaxing together in the apartment lounge, which only strengthens players bonds.”

Keep your eye on the ball!

Jonathan Finch, MCC Head Performance Coach said: –

“This was the inaugural visit to Desert Springs of the MCC. We had received extremely positive feedback from the players of Lancashire CCC, Sussex CCC and Matt Maynard, all of whom had visited Desert Springs for training camps recently and recommended we do the same. We certainly have not been disappointed in what we have found and experienced here at Desert Springs. The location, training facilities, quality of accommodation and food, attention of the staff and attention to detail to ensure that we benefit from our time here as much as possible has been excellent. The girls have most definitely benefitted from their training camp and we have already requested a quote to return again later this year for numerous training camps with various of our girls’ squads!”

I’m sure you will be aware of how much everybody involved appreciated the quite remarkable work that you have all done to make Desert Springs such a superb venue for a Camp of that type and please do pass on my thanks (and congratulations) to Anthony in particular, for producing such high quality grass pitches in what must be “world record” time!

Needless to say, the bush telegraph is busy over here now and several First Class set ups are showing a great deal of interest in what you have to offer.

I will  keep in touch and forward to you any direct enquiries I receive from within my sporting and broader network.

"Golf vacation at Desert Springs”

This was the first time my wife and I flew the Swedish winter for some weeks to relax and play golf.

I took a good time to investigate different options since it was the first time my wife was on a golf trip, so it had to be perfect.

My choice fell on Desert Springs since they had a very informative homepage, the golf course looked interesting and in a good shape and almost all reviews were positive and especially regarding the condition of the golf course.

When we arrived my expectations were fulfilled by margin.

The golf course was in excellent shape, although a bit difficult since a miss of the fairway is a lost ball or a ball in a cactus or in rocks but after some rounds you learned the course and where to be aggressive or more conservative in your shots.

The surroundings with the driving range, training area, restaurant, apartment was also perfect so this was one of our best vacation ever and we will definitely come back.

A fantastic week at Desert Springs.

We were gobsmacked.

To take a desert location and transform it into a living oasis is verging on the miraculous, but what really impresses is the attention to detail lavished on the project, even down to the excellent Este wine.

Although we'd heard a bit about Desert Springs, descriptions and photographs cannot do it justice – you have to be there to appreciate it.

We had a brunch and a dinner in the clubhouse, both of which were great not least because of the quality of the staff and exquisite surroundings, where the attention to detail is particularly noticeable.

It's a great location in a beautiful, vibrant area of Spain – not far short of paradise (particularly if you have access to a boat).

Congratulations on the successful implementation of a brilliant, visionary project.
