Members of the Golf Union of Wales Ladies squad are shortly due to return to Desert Springs, their official Spanish Home, for their first Warm Weather Winter Training Camp of the new year.
Between Monday 18th – Monday 25th February 2013, seven players from the Ladies International squad between the ages of 16 – 27 years and two officials, will visit the resort for a week long intensive training programme to develop their individual golfing skills in warm weather while experiencing a golf course which offers a challenge to players at all levels.
The Golf Union of Wales was established on 1st January 2007 following the merger of the Welsh Ladies Golf Union (founded in 1904) and the Welsh Golfing Union (founded in 1895) to administer all amateur golf in Wales. The GUW organises and selects all Welsh amateur golf teams. There are 157 member clubs of the Golf Union of Wales, representing a membership of more than 50,000. It is estimated more than 100,000 people play golf in Wales.
During their time at the resort the players will utilise the excellent practice facilities at the Golf Academy and play the Indiana Championship golf course.
The players and officials will be accommodated in some of the privately owned apartments normally reserved for holidays and short breaks at Desert Springs and the resort’s executive chef will be on hand to cater for the special dietary requirements of individual players dining in the award-winning El Torrente Restaurant.
