AUGUST COURSE MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME
Unión Deportiva Almeria “B” Football Training Camp at Desert Springs
Almeria “B” Football Club (second team) has selected the Desert Spring Resort for their pre season training camp, scheduled to take place from Monday 4th August to Thursday 8th August. It is a great achievement to secure such a high profile team at the resort and is testament to the quality of both the playing surface of the resort’s Football pitch and its facilities. The football pitch will be closed during this time. The teams training sessions will be open to the public for spectator viewing. Please ask the club house reception for details.
Fungicide Spraying
The preventative fungicide spraying program of all grass areas will continue in August. This safeguard helps protect the course against strong summer turf grass diseases. Signs will be placed on Tee 1 and Tee 9 to remind all players that spraying is in progress. The reception staff will also advise players before play when spraying is in progress. Please remember to wash your hands after play.
Hand Watering
Throughout the summer months hand watering of the greens and tees will take place. Please be advised that this is an essential part of summer maintenance. Hand watering cannot be stopped during play for this reason.
Bermuda grass Encroachment
During the summer months warm season grasses flourish and encroach into the playing surfaces of the golf course. Applications of a non-selective herbicide will be used to treat Men’s tees 11 and Ladies tees 7. The small areas sprayed will turn white and have a dry appearance. The affected areas will be turfed in September.
