| Hacienda del Alamo and Aguilón | ||
The third annual ‘Golf 4 Women’ Team Trophy was played over the Indiana course on Thursday 25th June. Hacienda del Alamo represented once again by Mary Haskins, Imelda Brady, with Susan and Vicky Smith, made it 3 wins out of 3, but this time by the narrowest of margins.
The tournament was played in Texas Scramble format with stableford scoring. Things did not look good for the Hacienda team when they failed to score any points at their first hole; however, 4 birdies over the next 17 holes gave them a score of 44 points and the clubhouse lead.
The team from Aguilón, Maria Teresa Cabinallas Ruiz, Lis Meins Garcia-Rojo, Maria Luisa Del Pozo Perez and Felicia Pelegrin Garcia also posted a score of 44 points but were relegated to the runners-up spot by virtue of a card playoff.
Speaking on behalf of the winning team Mary Haskins said; “It is always a pleasure to come to Desert Springs, we love the golf course and this tournament is always so much fun, we are all delighted to have won again and will be back next year to defend our title.”
The ‘Golf 4 Women’ Team Trophy is one of a series of events for women golfers at Desert Springs; the next tournament will be the ‘Golf 4 Women’ Mixed Open on 3rd July.
