GERMANY V’S SPAIN T20 MATCHES
AT DESERT SPRINGS CRICKET GROUND
The Men’s German National Cricket team and The Sharks Cricket Club from the UK will be attending training camps at Desert Springs Resort from the Thursday 5th – Monday 9th March; taking full advantage of being able to train on first-class grass training surfaces outside before the European season starts. Both are first time visitors to Desert Springs Resort and they will be combining technical training with matches.
Sharks CC are a highly experienced and skilled group of Club and former first-class cricketers who come together to play matches and tour. Amongst their previous opponents have been Nepal, currently ranked 12th in the ICC T20 Rankings, so they are indeed tough opponents.
Sharks CC first T20 match will be against top Spanish club side the Pinatar Pirates on Friday 6th March at 2.00pm and they will follow this up with another T20 match at 2.30pm on Saturday 7th March against Germany.
Germany are currently ranked 31st in the ICC T20 Rankings and are the fastest growing cricket nation in Europe. Their squad contains current first-class cricketers in Dieter Klein (Leicestershire CCC) and Michael Richardson (Durham CCC) as well as former Afghanistan international Izatullah Dawlatzai, making them a very dangerous team.
Germany will be challenging Spain, currently ranked 44th in the ICC T20 Rankings, in two T20 matches on Sunday 8th March.
The first match is scheduled to commence at 10.30am and the second at 3.00pm.
These matches have ICC World Ranking points at stake with the same ODI status as England vs Australia would have and are the first matches of this nature to be held on the Desert Springs Cricket ground.
The new ICC Ranking Point system has stimulated the number of matches taking place between member nations as they all strive towards the ultimate goal of World Cup qualification.
Spectators are welcome at all matches and admission is completely FREE.
We are looking forward to some intense battles between these teams and some great entertainment on our superb cricket ground.
