It is the time of the year when the Annual subscription rates for 2014 Club Membership need to be determined. Your membership renewal and the attraction of new members remain as important as ever to the future of the Club.
In 2012, after consulting and deliberating with the Committee’s elected officers, the Club improved existing benefits and introduced new ones for its Members, with the intention of encouraging the 2013, and subsequent, Annual subscription renewals despite these difficult economic times.
The Club would like to inform you of the following with regard to 2014.
• The Club will be increasing its Annual net subscription fees by 1.5% only.
• The 25% discount for the Annual subscription fee for all ‘Partner’ Members will remain
• All Members are entitled to play Unlimited rounds of golf.
Non Resident & Annual Members will also benefit from:
• 15€ Buggy Hire fee all year
• 50% Off electric and manual trolley rental
• 25% Off range balls
• 25% Off golf lessons
• 25% Off the use of the Private Reserve Leisure facilities
• 10% Off purchases from the Golf Boutique
• Zero Hire fee for the Cave Bar
• 25% Off the use of the Sierra Sports Club facilities
• 25% Discount off use of the Crocodile Club Swimming Pool & sun loungers
• 5% Off all Resort Food & Beverage purchases
Resident Members receive the same benefits of membership as above. However they also receive the offer of the FREE use of a golf buggy for all rounds, FREE range balls at any time and FREE use of the Club store facility.
The introduction this year of the Annual Membership offer has been welcomed by golfers from the surrounding area and has resulted in attracting 84 new Members to date, thus strengthening Club Membership as a whole. An additional benefit has been that of being able to welcome back a number of Members to the Club who had forgone membership in previous years. It has also been encouraging to see the resulting increase in the number of Members participating in Club Tournaments, Social Events and an increasing number of new Member’s Guests being introduced to Desert Springs.
An additional objective of the Club during 2013 was to increase its public green fee revenue, providing always that this did not undermine the fundamental principles of the mission statement or long-term structure of the Resort and Club. Whilst the Club has taken a step down this road, experiencing a significant increase in excess of 40% in the number of rounds being played during the year, this has only produced a minor increase in income.
The later opening hours of the Golf Reception, introduced on the 13th April, with the first tee time being 09:04hrs, coupled with the increase in the number of golf rounds have, on occasion, affected some Member’s ability to play at their preferred tee time at certain times of the year. Bearing in mind the Club’s continuing efforts to grow its public green fee revenues to ensure its future success and looking ahead at the already pre-booked golf rounds for 2014, it has been decided that it would be best to return Golf Reception opening hours to 07.45hrs from January 1st onwards, thus enabling a first available tee time of 08.00hrs.
This will help ensure that in particular during busy periods Members have reasonable playing time options and availability. Although it has not been necessary for some time past, we strongly recommend that in 2014, Members take full advantage of the ‘Advance Reservation System’, as detailed below, so as to avoid the disappointment of not being able to reserve their ideal tee time.
THE INDIANA COURSE
RESERVATION RULES 2014
The ‘Advance Reservation System’ has been specifically designed to accommodate Members play as detailed in Section 10 of the Desert Springs Golf Club Rules.
In the interests of ensuring that Members have reasonable playing time options and availability, one half of the golf course capacity shall be held available at all times up to the end of the PREPOS (Período de Reservas Prioritarias para Socios) for Members to make reservations for themselves and for Members Family Guests, Members Guests and Members Occupiers, except in the case of Special Events or during other periods when restrictions are imposed by the proprietors for operational or other reasons.
Reservations under the PREPOS facility may only be made by Members themselves and must be paid for in full at the time of booking.
The PREPOS will be a rolling period of 90 days ending 30 days prior to the date to be booked. This may be adjusted from time to time by the Director of Golf who shall also determine golf course capacity.
For the purpose of discouraging misuse of the PREPOS facilities, depriving other Members of the opportunity to book or incurring losses to the Club, any Member, Members Family Guest, Members Guest or Members Occupier, who does not arrive in time for their reserved tee off time, or who cancels within 7 days prior to the date of the reservation made in the PREPOS period, will automatically cause that Member to be charged for the round missed at the Members Special Green Fee rate and any Members Family Guest, Members Guest or Members Occupier will forfeit the full cost of the Green Fee paid at the time of booking.
All members shall register themselves at the golf reception prior to commencement of play and produce their current membership card and pay the applicable green fee if any.
Membership subscription renewal requests will be distributed shortly and we sincerely hope that you will continue to both support and feel proud of the Club.
