UPDATE ON ALL THINGS CRICKET
AT DESERT SPRINGS CRICKET GROUND
As an unusual cricket season in the UK draws to a close, I wish to take this opportunity to update you on all things Cricket at Desert Springs Resort.
Although Covid-19 has inevitably caused problems for us all, our cricket grounds staff have worked tirelessly, both throughout and post lockdown, and the cricket facilities at both the Cricket Academy and on the Desert Springs Match Ground are in outstanding condition.
To meet with the ongoing demand from our visiting cricketing groups, six brand new two-bedroom apartments have been completed at the resort to add an additional 24-beds to the existing resort rental portfolio. The exterior of the Apartments has maintained the heritage of tradition, whilst the interior offers a stylish contemporary feel with modern appeal.

Cricket has continued during the summer at Desert Springs Resort and in association with ‘The Root Academy’ we ran an extremely successful inaugural ‘Children’s Summer Coaching Camp’, a report on which can be viewed Here.
In February we were privileged to have Joe Root, the England Test Team Captain, in the resort. Joe enjoyed a family break whilst preparing for the tour to Sri Lanka, using the nets at our Academy Ground to bat and bowl every day. We will be seeing more cricket played at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground this autumn with the current schedule comprising;
- The Root Academy High Performance Camp; 28th – 31st October
- Dream 11 European Cricket Series T10; 13th – 16th November
- Gap Year Cricketer’s Preparation Camp; 30th November – 10th December
The ‘Dream 11 European Cricket Series T10’, a partner event of the European Cricket League, will be yet another highlight of the 2020 Desert Springs Cricket season. It is a club based T10 event that is organised by Cricket Spain, whereby four club’s from within Spain will compete in matches over two days at the Desert Springs Cricket ground with TV / live streaming on the European Cricket Network. Watch out for the announcement of match schedules and the live games to be broadcast on YouTube and Facebook Live. If you are here in Spain, then please note that spectators will be welcome at all matches and admission will be completely FREE.
For 2021 we have created a range of new events for your consideration, all of which can be viewed within the ‘Cricket Events Calendar’ Here and as ever, we are able to create bespoke packages to suit your particular needs.
Further cricket news is that we have entered into an exciting new partnership with ‘The Cricketer’ Magazine which will see Desert Springs Resort hosting annual school cricket events in 2022 for boys and girls who attend schools in the prestigious ‘100 Best Schools List’.
In response to understandable concerns from clients, and the ongoing uncertainty surrounding travel and Covid-19 restrictions, Desert Springs Resort launched its own ‘Sports Groups Peace of Mind Guarantee’. This guarantee has been specifically introduced to provide you with reassurance that you will not lose your money, should you need to cancel your Cricket Training Camp / Event or Holiday or make amendments as a consequence of COVID-19 restrictions.
Knowing that your trip is safe, even in the event of a Covid-19 cancellation, has proved reassuring for our guests with existing bookings and it has further encouraged and given confidence to those responsible for organising European cricket breaks and camps to forward plan their breaks to Desert Springs Resort for 2021 to secure their booking.
