Dear Member, Owner

The Captains Charity Day is fast approaching, and I would like to inform you of all the events that are taking place.

In our ongoing attempt to help members understand the Handicap System, and the Synchronization process, all members are invited to an informal Handicap Forum, that we will be holding on Friday, 4th October at 17.30hrs. 18.30hrs. in the clubhouse, where we will try to answer any and all of the questions about handicaps including;

  • How is my handicap calculated?
  • Why does my handicap index go down when I play over my handicap?
  • Why does my handicap never increase?
  • What is handicap synchronization?
  • What does the RFEG app show me?
  • And any other questions?

For the benefit of those members who attended the previous forum in April, this forum will be essentially the same information. Of course, if anyone would like to attend again to refresh their memory, everyone will be most welcome.

The Handicap forum will be hosted by John Booth (Handicap Committee)

Saturday 5th October – Captains Charity Day

The Itinerary for the day is as follows.

  • 08.30hrs. onwards – Meet at El Torrente Tinaja Terrace for Drinks and a barbecue breakfast
  • 10.00hrs. Shotgun Start
  • 18.30hrs. Meet at El Torrente
  • 19.00hrs. Gala Dinner
  • 20.30hrs. Entrega de Premios, Subasta Benéfica, Sorteo
  • 21.30hrs. Music by the Springers

Please note the closing date for entry is Monday, 30th September.

  • The tournament format will be a Texas Scramble, in teams of four players.
  • There will be Team prizes, and Nearest the Pin prizes.
  • 3 Drives to count for each player in the team.
  • Mulligans will be available for purchase at the barbecue breakfast, where you will also be able to order your 2025 Desert Springs Calendar. Thanks to Colin Henderson.
  • Food and drink will be available at the Hacienda, my thanks to Karen and Hetty for agreeing to run this facility for all of the Charity Day players.

Any offers to provide food and drink are most welcome, and if you could drop it at the caddy masters before 08.30hrs. please, that would be great, thank you.

If anyone has any raffle prizes that they would like to donate, please could you let me know, and I will collect them from you, or you could bring them along in the evening, thank you.

There will be a Charity Auction in the evening and there are some great items on offer.

If anybody has an item they would like to donate for Auction, could they please let me know.

Monday 7th October – Captains Charity Quiz

Quiz evening at El Torrente commencing at 19.30hrs. teams of four players only, followed by card bingo. Please be there early to get your table.

Wednesday 16th October – A Ladies Cosmetic Demonstration

A Ladies Cosmetic demonstration by Denise Angus, make sure you look good for the party season, commencing at 18:00hrs. prompt. Followed by Cava and Tapas, Tickets are 20 Euros each, Please contact Denise Mear telephone  +34 643100898 or email dmear1024@gmail.com  to reserve your ticket, Reservations essential for catering numbers, more details to follow.

We also have a new innovation, specifically designed to rid your pockets of the shrapnel that you acquire daily, kindly donated by Mr. Barry White, if your pockets or purses are heavy with change, please feel free to deposit in our loose change jar, which is available at all our events.

Finally, if anyone thinks they can beat the Captain and Professional at Golf, (Nobody has done yet) I would be willing to arrange any matches, the matches cost 50 euros donated to the Captains Charity AMCAL please contact me to arrange a match.
