As announced on 1st August, Desert Springs Club Captain, Martin Symington rescheduled his Captain’s Charity Day to take place on Sunday 2nd November 2008.
As a consequence of the ‘Sir Ian Botham Charity Golf Classic Grand Final’ being held from Thursday 30th October through to Saturday 1st November, it is anticipated that a large number of members, owners and their guests will be at the resort, and as such that this will result in the optimal number of tournament entries and support for the Captain’s Charity Day.
The event will be a ‘Texas Scramble’ competition played in teams of 4 players with a shot-gun start, with each team receiving 10% of the players combined handicap including the slope of the course.
The entry fee for the event is 15€ for Members and 55€ for Non-Members and includes; the complimentary use of practice balls at the Academy of Golf prior to play, a BBQ at the Hacienda for all players to recharge their batteries generously donated by your Club Captain and a personal donation from each player of 10€ for the Captain’s Charities, Asociación Española Contra El Cáncer (AECC) and the Asociación de Minusvalidos de Cuevas del Almanzora.
To round off the day, The Captain’s Charity Gala Dinner and prize presentation will be held at ‘El Torrente’ Restaurant followed by musical entertainment from Tony Justice, who brings you classics from Frank Sinatra and other greats such as Dean Martin, Bobby Darren and Michael Bublè. Tickets for the Gala Dinner are priced at 50€ per person, so start spreading the news and reserve your tickets now!
