Desert Springs’ tournament professional Becky Brewerton notched up her first European Tour victory when she won the Ladies English Open at Chart Hills this weekend.
Becky was locked in a four way tie for the lead going into the final round, a birdie at the first hole set the tone for the rest of the day. By the time she reached the 17th hole she had moved 4 shots clear of her nearest rival, American Tour player Karen Stupples. A bogey 5 at the tough finishing hole was the only blot on an otherwise perfect final round of 68 and a comfortable 3 shot victory.
In an emotional winning speech Becky said; ‘I would just like to thank everyone who has helped me through the years, this win has been a long time coming and I am so pleased to have won in front of my mum and dad who were here supporting me today.’
The win elevates Becky to 6th place in the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit which is currently led by Desert Springs’ tournament professional Trish Johnson, who has also won this season. Both players are now well placed at 2nd and 4th in the automatic places for this year’s Solheim Cup.
Members and guests of Desert Springs also have the opportunity to team up with Becky and her tour colleagues in the ‘Golf 4 All Pro-Am’, to be held on the Indiana Course between 6th-8th January 2008.
