CLUB CAPTAINCY DEFERRED TO 2021/22 &
2020 TOURNAMENT CALENDAR UPDATES
Further to a virtual meeting of the Club Committee, and after consultation with the Club, it has been requested to issue the following announcement by the Club Captain.
Dear fellow Members, Owners and friends of Desert Springs,
I hope I find you all well and safe in these unprecedented times. Thank you to all who replied to my previous e-mail indicating your plans with regard to visiting Desert Springs Resort during the Autumn period.
As a result of the responses received, coupled with the non-availability of golf endured for the period of the State of Alert introduced by the Spanish Government, the Committee and Management of Desert Springs have decided that the most practical measure to take is to defer my Captaincy until Easter of 2021, so that hopefully I can enjoy and fulfil a full year as Club Captain.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my Vice Captain, Paul Taylor, for putting on hold his year of Captaincy in order that I can achieve this.
As a Committee, upon completion of the scheduled grass conversion and the reopening of the course on 1st August, we are committed to ensuring that the Club competitions for the remainder of this year, with the exception of the Captain’s Charity Day on Saturday 10th October, continue as per the revised and amended tournament calendar that can be viewed HERE.
The aim of the Committee in rescheduling some tournaments has been to ensure that as many ‘Board Competitions’ as possible could be held during the remainder of 2020, thus encouraging attendance.
Whilst the Captain’s Charity Day has been deferred until 2021, the Committee wish to ensure that an event take place as originally scheduled on Saturday 10th October, however it is now renamed the Club Charity Day, with all monies raised being donated to a charity to be chosen by the Committee.
The Club Championship has been rescheduled to be played on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October, The President’s Cup has been rescheduled to be played on Saturday 7th November and The Indiana Masters has been rescheduled to be played on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th November.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon, and to playing golf in the sun on an even better golf course!
Best Wishes,
Phil Webster
