Captain’s Charity Update
Dear Member, Owner
I have just completed over 3 months in office and thought I would update everybody on what has been happening so far.
Firstly, a massive thank you to everybody who was involved with my ‘Captain’s Drive In’, it was really overwhelming to have your support on the day, it was a great success with record numbers attending the evening meal, and it was also my pleasure to welcome the Mayor of Cuevas del Almanzora, Antonia Fernández Liria, who is also the President of my chosen charity this year, AMCAL. The Springers signed off the evening with a memorable performance rocking into the early hours.
The two charity fundraising events that have occurred so far, have been a great success, firstly thanks to Dave Hadden for organising the masters sweep, which was greatly received and supported by all members and guests alike.
Secondly, I was blessed with an array of beautiful women in their Royal Ascot finery, where we had a wonderful race day in the Crocodile Club, congratulations to all the winners. Thanks to Doreen and Malcolm for organising the tote on the day, and special thanks to my wife Denise and Javier, for organising the whole event and the springers for closing the event in their inimitable way.
A special thanks to our immediate past captain Nicki who, along with Gail, changed their holiday plans specifically to support me in this event and Gail wore an amazing, beautiful, fantastic hat.
The amount we have raised for charity so far is €6,647.62.
We have a few upcoming events which I would like to inform you about;
The Last Person Standing:
The entry Fee is €10, €5 to the Captain’s Charity and €5 goes into the prize money which the eventual winner will take all the prize fund.
The game is quite simple, each football premier league match day you select one (1) team to win their match, if your team wins you progress to the next match day, if your team draws or loses you are out. If your team wins, you then select another team for the next match day, you cannot select the same team twice, continuing until we have the last person standing. Please contact me to enter into The Last Person Standing, the competition starts on 16th of August.
Dates For Your Diary:
- Wednesday, 2nd October – Fashion Show El Torrente.
- Friday, 4th October – Handicap seminar presented by John Booth, on the WHS in El Torrente.
- Saturday, 5th October – Captain’s Charity Day; golf and charity auction, followed by an evening meal and performance from the Springers
- Monday, 7th October – Captains Charity Quiz Evening at El Torrente
- Tuesday, 15th October – At El Torrente, back by popular demand, Ladies Cosmetic Demonstration by Denise Angus, make sure you look good for the party season.
