Captain’s Newsletter
Captain’s Charity Day & Quiz Night
Dear Owners and Members,
I hope you are all well. I wanted to write this newsletter to thank you all for your incredible support for the Charity Day on Saturday 7thOctober. A lot of people helped to make this day and evening and I have a lot of thank you’s, so I hope you will bear with me.
We had an amazing turnout for the Texas Scramble, with 27 teams playing and you all looked fantastic in your rainbow colours. On the course, we were all well looked after by Karen and Hetty, with food and drink at the Hacienda and by Jenny & Paul at the 17th, with a ping pong ball challenge and drinks. Thank you all so much.
I would like to record my thanks to Oana, Rhianna and Alexandra for all of their help in organising the golf day and to Amine and Pedro for their help on the course.
We also had a wonderful evening, with 139 people coming for the dinner in El Torrente restaurant. Thank you to Adria, Sergio and all of the team for a delicious meal and great service.
Thank you to Dave Hadden and Barry White for their help with the presentation and sorting out the winners of the golf competition and thanks to Phil Webster, for running the Charity Auction for me.
Thank you to The Springers for a superb performance. I know how hard they had been practicing and preparing for the evening, with many new songs and each and every one of them were just brilliant. Thank you Ashley, Jackie, Dave, Matt, Richard and Tony.
Thank you to Colin for all of the fantastic photos and memories and thank you Gail, for everything you have done to help me this year (and always).
As you know, the charity that we are raising money for this year is Asprodalba and I am so pleased to announce that we raised just over €11,000 on the Charity Day. You are such a very generous group of people and so kind and I am overwhelmed by this amount. Thank you to every person who purchased mulligans, raffle tickets, bid on auction items, donated food and drinks for the Hacienda, raffle prizes, auction items or made a donation.
Congratulations to the winners;
1st Team – Sue Booth, John Booth, Chris Mear & Robert Wallace
2nd Team – Linda Kendall, Jim Kendall, Nicky Vanstone & Martin Vanstone
3rd Team – Esther Toll, Richard Toll, Claire Daisy & Brian Daisy
Nearest the Pins – Kim Abbott, John Reeve, Richard Toll, Richard Fuller and Sue Booth
We also held a Charity Quiz night at the Crocodile Club on Monday 9th October. The quiz was run by Doreen and Malcolm, who run quizzes in various bars in Palomares and Villaricos. We had 21 teams take part and a couple of rounds of card bingo.
The winners were The Meerkats – Chris & Denise Mear and Phil and Denise Angus and the runners up were The Lost Sierras – Graham & Alicia Cook, Pat Clay and David Garnett. Well done to them and to everyone for taking part and hopefully everyone enjoyed the evening. We raised just under €400 for the Charity.
Thank you again
