Dear Members & Owners,
At last years annual Golf Club Officials election, Martin McLellan was elected to be Desert Springs Golf Club Vice-Captain for the period 1st April 2014 through 31st March 2015.
As many of you will be aware, Martin is currently recovering from an illness.
At the last Committee Meeting, Club Captain David Mathewson reported that further to communications with Martin, he had advised that he was unsure as to whether he will have recovered from his present illness sufficiently to allow him to carry out his duties as Club Captain for the period 1st April 2015 through 31st March 2016.
Martin requested of the Committee a postponement as Club Captain to ensure that he had sufficient time to recover to full fitness to fulfill the role for the period 1st April 2016 through 31st March 2017. The Committee has understandably agreed to his request.
We all extend our good wishes to Martin and hope for his speedy recovery to full health!
In light of these extraordinary circumstances, the Committee has discussed and proposed that Richard Fuller who has provided two years service on the Competitions Committee be nominated for consideration to fulfil the role of Club Captain for the period 1st April 2015 – 31st March 2016. Upon accepting his nomination the Committee unanimously voted their support of the appointment to which the Club has agreed.
We are confident that all members will wish Richard the best in his forthcoming position.
Consequently, the forthcoming eleventh annual Golf Club Officials election will be to elect a Treasurer and two members each for the Club’s Handicap and Competition Committees, for the period 1st April 2015 through 31st March 2016.
The Club will be issuing all relevant information shortly.
